I came here especially to see your work and to buy something but all your things are very expensive…!!!

So many people say this exact same thing to me nearly all the time… and finish always with the same question:

“Why are you so expensive???”

Normally I say that I want to get rich quick….

(My good friend Britt says that I’m already rich but in this case she doesn’t talk about money)..

I am:

- the person who cleans the shop window inside and out, clean the glass and the floor (when needed)

- the one who organises all the payments

- keeps up contacts on the web

- replies to all the mail – and there’s a lot

- writes the blogs (2 blogs)

- thinks of what to create

- acquires the materials to make the objects I’ve thought of

- tries to follow through with the plans

- manage to realise these ideas and produce these objects with all the accompanying problems

- explain their creation to prospective clients

- sell them

- package them (well) and the best I can so that they won’t break

- send them and track the shipping

- keep up contact with the bank

- entertain the clients when they come into the studio

the costs of an object don’t come only from these factors but also from:
the cost of the gas, the cost of the glass (which also depends on the cost of the gas), the cost of the electricity for the the oven and in general, the cost of the telephone, the water charges, rubbish removal charges, rental charges of my place of work, equipment costs (some brand new), the cost of the studio, the cost of my time….

Re-evaluate now how it can be possible to sell a glass object at a laughable price, produced carefully in my studio in Venice…

and then ask the question to someone who sells glass at a low price:

WHY IS IT SO CHEAP!!!!!

Ho guardato molte vetrine prima di arrivare quì , visto che lei è molto menzionato nel web sono venuto quì per visitare e vederla all’opera…..

ed acquistare qualcosa ma tutte le sue cose sono molto costose…!!!

Molte persone mi ripetono quasi sempre la stessa frase …. e terminano sempre nello stesso modo

Why you are so  expensive ???

Di solito io dico che voglio diventare ricco molto presto ….

(La mia cara amica Britt dice che ricco lo sono già ma in questo caso  non si parla di soldi) ..

Io sono

- La persona che pulisce  le vetrine, pulisce i vetri e il pavimento (quando serve)

- quello che esegue i pagamenti

- mantiene i contatti nel web

- risponde alle mail (tante)

- scrive nei blog (   2 blog )

- pensa cosa crere

-acquista il materiale appropriato per eseguire le cose che pensa

- prova ad eseguirle

- ci riesce e le mette in produzione praticamente le esegue fisicamente con tutti i loro problemi

- spiega la loro esecuzione agli eventuali  clienti

- le vende

- le inscatola (bene) al meglio che non si rompano

- le spedisce o segue le spedizioni

- mantiene i contatti con la banca

- intrattiene i clienti che vengono nello studio

i costi di un oggetto non derivano solo da queste voci ma anche da:

costo del gas, costo del vetro acquistato (dipende sempre dal gas), costo dell’elettricità per il forno della ricottura ed in generale, costo del telefono, costo dell’acqua, costo delle spazzature, costo del posto dove produco,  costo delle attrezzature (alle volte nuove),  costo dello studio delle prove per eseguire il pezzo, costo del mio tempo……..

Valutate ora voi come sia possibile poter vendere un oggetto in vetro ad un prezzo irrisorio, naturalmente prodotto quì nel mio studio a Venezia….

e dunque la giusta domanda da rivolgere a chi vende vetro a basso costo  è questa:

WHY IS SO CHEAP !!!!!!!

In occasione dell’ultima Domenica di  Carnevale prima di recarmi al lavoro mi sono “ritagliato” piccoli momenti per poter stare assieme alle persone a me più care (Barbara ed Irene) e sono andato a partecipare (purtoppo non mascherato!! almeno completamente, avevo indossato una grossissima parrucca) ad una sfilata mascherata organizzata nell’isola dove vivo ….Murano.
